Our Nawakwa, Inc. was founded by a group of passionate individuals who recognized the importance of Camp Nawakwa's legacy and the need to ensure its preservation for future generations.
Our mission is to preserve Camp Nawakwa where we will support our youth and community by fostering continuing appreciation for the outdoors.
It is our vision to strengthen our youth & community by developing leadership skills, providing environmental education, and promoting heath & wellness through property rental and support services thereby ensuring Nawakwa's legacy now and for future generations.
Camp Nawakwa is a historic youth camp that is available for rent to youth groups and organizations. Our Nawakwa, Inc. (a completely volunteer run 501c3 non-profit in Chippewa County) purchased the camp from the Girl Scouts in January of 2024.
Camp Nawakwa is currently a 75-acre camp that includes a 26-acre lake settled amongst hilly glacial topography. The 32 acres on the north side of Picnic Lake are improved with 3 winterized lodges, a seasonal dining hall, 12 seasonal and rustic sleeping units, a historical lodge from the original Boy Scout camp, a waterfront, an archery range, and plenty of space for a variety of outdoor activities.
Twenty-one acres on the south and east side of Picnic Lake have a conservation easement granted to the Ice Age Trail Alliance (IATA) which permanently prevents development of the land. The Ice Age Trail, a 1200-mile national hiking trail, runs along this easement.
Camp Nawakwa is located at 25336 County Hwy E, just north of Highway 64 between Cornell and Bloomer, Wisconsin.
We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team of volunteers. Whether you have a few hours a week or a few hours a month to spare, we have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities that will allow you to make a difference in the lives of youth and our community.
